Placement Speed Verifier

Calculate the actual globally derated placement rate of your SMT line from real production data. Enter total placement time and your product mix to see the true CPH your line delivered, not the nameplate figure.

Measurement Period
hours
Total elapsed time of the placement run. Include all scheduled stops, changeovers, and slow-downs. This is what gives the global derating its meaning.
Nameplate Reference
cph
Combined nameplate CPH of all placers on the line. For a multi-machine line, sum all placer ratings. Optional. If entered, derating percentage is shown against this figure.
Calculation Methodology
Global derated CPH = total components placed across all products, divided by the total elapsed time in hours.

Total components per product = boards produced x components per board.

This mirrors the method described in section 5.9 of the SMTA Handbook of Electronic Assembly. It accounts for all system-wide stops and slow-downs automatically because they are baked into the elapsed time denominator.

Derating % = (actual CPH / nameplate CPH) x 100. For a multi-machine line, use combined nameplate CPH so the comparison is meaningful. Typical real-world values range from 30% to 60% of nameplate speed.
Product Mix
# Product / Reference Boards Produced Components / Board Total Components
Up to 20 products. The total components column updates live as you type. Leave component count or board count at zero to exclude a row from the calculation.
